LIVE UPDATES: Putin and Xi Adopt Declaration on Establishment Multipolar World

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Beijing at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The trip is scheduled to last two days, from May 19 to 20.
Putin will hold a meeting with Xi Jinping, where the two leaders will discuss bilateral relations and measures to further strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership. The talks are expected to result in a joint high-level statement and the signing of multiple bilateral agreements.
Presidents Putin and Xi Jinping will also participate in the official opening ceremony of the Russia-China Years of Education 2026–2027.
Russian leader's program also includes a separate meeting with Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qiang, during which prospects for trade and economic cooperation will be discussed.
Putin is accompanied by a large delegation comprising all deputy prime ministers and the heads of leading Russian state-owned and private companies.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping ended their conversation over a cup of tea that lasted about 1.5 hours, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Wednesday.
After the official talks, Putin and Xi Jinping met in an informal setting to discuss topical international issues over a cup of tea. The conversation lasted about 1.5 hours, it took place in the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China.
The conversation was held in a narrow circle, only four members of the delegation from each side were invited to it. The meeting was attended by Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office Maxim Oreshkin and Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov.

Putin added that during his visit to China, the parties outlined prospects for the development of bilateral relations.

Russia, China Sign 42 Documents Following Putin's Visit to China
Russia and China adopted and signed 42 documents following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Wednesday.
The documents signed include a joint statement by the two countries on further strengthening comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction and on deepening relations of good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation, as well as a joint declaration on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations.
A number of documents, including intergovernmental and interagency agreements, were signed in the presence of the leaders at a solemn ceremony in Beijing. Moreover, a series of agreements and memorandums, including cooperation agreements between Russian and Chinese universities, were signed on the sidelines of the negotiations.
Moscow State University, RUDN University, St. Petersburg State University, the Higher School of Economics, and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation will deepen contacts with Chinese partners.
